Midwest Joint Venture Uranium Project

Synopsis

AREVA (69%), Denison (25%), OURD (6%) are proposing the Midwest Project, a new open pit uranium mine located 16km west of McClean Lake. The ore will be processed at the McClean Lake mill. Midwest is one of a set of projects, including the Cigar Lake Mine, which will extend the life of the McClean Lake operation. The project has been suspended for a number of years, pending more favourable economic conditions, that is, higher uranium prices.
