Red Chris Copper and Gold Mine
|
Synopsis Imperial Metals' Red Chris copper/gold mining property is in Tahltan territory, 18 km southeast of Iskut. The project received BC and federal environmental approvals in 2005 & 2006. The Supreme Court ruled in January 2010 that the federal authorities incorrectly defined the project to avoid a comprehensive review, thereby precluding public engagement. Imperial Metals intends to construct the 30,000 ton per day mine only when the Northwest Transmission Line is operating. |
