Lodgepole and Sage Creek Coal Mines

Synopsis

Cline Mining has two coal mine proposals in the Flathead River watershed: Lodgepole in the upper Flathead, Sage & Cabin Creek further downstream. Concerns include local landscape and habitat impacts, and effects on water downstream, esp. in Montana. In 2004, the BC government created a ten-year Coal Land Reserve which halted further development of the Sage Creek project, but does not affect Lodgepole.
