Capital Regional District Core Area Liquid Waste Management

Synopsis The Capital Regional District pumps sewage and storm water directly into the Strait of Juan de Fuca. In 2006, BC's Minister of Environment ordered the CRD to adopt a liquid waste management plan which involves secondary treatment. The plan will make recommendations or decisions on facilities and siting; cost, financing, ownership, and operation; resource and energy recovery. Each is controversial. In June 2010, the "McLoughlin Option" was selected. See More Information below. |
