Cathedral Grove Logging
|
Synopsis Island Timberlands has started logging in the Cameron River basin adjacent to MacMillan Provincial Park, renowned for Cathedral Grove, its stands of old growth Douglas Fir. Logging near the park increases exposure, alters the hydrology of the area, and increases the risks to the trees in the park. Conservation groups want the company to halt logging and work toward agreement to protect the basin, and want the government to adopt an old growth protection strategy. |
