Synopsis

NaiKun Wind Development Inc. and Enmax Green Power Inc. propose to develop a 396 MW offshore wind energy project in Hecate Strait, off northeast Haida Gwaii. Up to 110 turbines will occupy about 100 km2, and will generate 1.3 GWh of electricity annually. 95 km submarine transmission cable will connect to Ridley Island, a 50 km cable will connect near Tlell, on Haida Gwaii. Resolution

The Naikun project was rejected for an electricity purchase agreement with BC Hydro in its Green Power Call. The company has not abandoned the project, but it is unlikely to go anywhere until it does get an EPA.
