CRD Rural Resource Lands

Synopsis

The Capital Regional District was considering bylaws which would reduce lot size and allow development in a huge area along the coast from Sooke to Port Renfrew. The bylaws were defeated, leaving the developer with few likely options: log, sell, or both. While one huge divisive battle in the CRD is finished, subsequent development issues will arise. Thus, this hotspot is merely on the backburner.

Resolution

Bylaws related to development of the Juan de Fuca lands were "denied, and [will] not ... be given any further readings" on Sept 14, 2011. Enders Ilkay has now to decide what to do with the lands - his options are limited, but include logging and/or selling them.
