Shopping centre proposal in Salmon Arm

Synopsis

Smart!Centres is proposing to develop a new shopping centre on the west side of Salmon Arm, covering 22 acres, of which much is the wetland delta of the Salmon River where it flows into Shuswap Lake. The river and the delta are salmon habitat, some of which would be destroyed by the development. Opponents of the project are concerned about a proposed 10 year development agreement, and the Neskonlith Band is concerned about consultation.
