Gas N Go

Synopsis

The Comox Valley Regional District has allowed the building of the Gas 'n' Go gas station along Comox Road (Dyke Road) along the Courtenay River estuary, against the wishes of local residents, including the K'omoks First Nation. Concerns are mainly focussed on the risk of petroleum products leaking or spilling into the estuary, which is rich marine and avian habitat. Despite lawsuits, construction started in August 2011.
